Simmakers team has made an expedition in one of the Nordic countries – Norway. This month-long journey across the polar Scandinavia gives us an opportunity to gain the permafrost regions, millenary glaciers, as well as have a look at engineering and technical solutions implemented by Scandinavian experts to construction of foundations and roads on permafrost.
Simmakers participated in the scientific conference “Technologies for Design and Construction of Foundations on Permafrost”, held on 7-8 September 2016 (Moscow, Russian Federation). Our lead specialist Vladimir Gordiychuk gave a presentation on the topic “Computer Simulation of Permafrost Thermal Regime with Further Analysis of Ground Settlement, Bearing Capacity of Piles, and Foundation Deformation”.
Simmakers Ltd. was granted a patent for “A Method to Build a 3D Geology Model Using Well Logs”. And we are happy to notice that this is our 4th patent as a part of the Frost 3D Universal project.
The annual adventure travel to mountains has become a good summer tradition of Simmakers. Needless to say, that action sports are the “must have” of such travel routine. All the great gains in the work on complex scientific and program solutions are impossible not only without a sharp mind but also without spirit strengthened by trial.
Simmakers became a Penguin Sponsor of the XI International Conference on Permafrost (ICOP 2016) that was held on 20-24 June 2016 in Potsdam, Germany. The conference was organized by the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, the University of Potsdam and the UP Transfer GmbH. The scientific program was supervised by an International Scientific Committee.
On May 23-24, the conference “Modern Challenges in the Design and Construction of Oil and Gas Fields” was organized by TomskNIPIneft (leading research and design institute of JSC “NK “Rosneft”) as a part of their 30th anniversary celebration. The conference focused on most topical issues of oil and gas field design and construction, geology and development, laboratory analysis and the use of information technologies.
Simmakers Ltd. participated in the XVI scientific conference “Information Technologies in Engineering”, held on 5−6 April 2016 at Giprotyumenneftegaz (R&D and engineering company, Tyumen, Russia) and gave a presentation on the prediction calculations of construction projects at the design stage under rough climatic conditions.
At the end of November 2015 Simmakers Ltd. was approached to provide the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Institute (UkrNGI) with Frost 3D Universal software package and also to conduct further training courses for the team of experts. And as early as December 14 (2015) it was appointed the course of training and guidance at Simmakers Development Center (Minsk, Belarus).
The UkrNGI specialists arrived for training with their technical drawings and projects that have already became a good tradition (it’s already a common thing among our trainees, and we welcome that). As a result the practical class was based mostly on the customer’s real projects.
On the second day of training the specialists of the Institute asked us to help them with some project computations they would have to perform at work.
“It was really hard times,” says Taras Lenyk, lead engineer of Oil & Gas Department. “We saw this program for the first time, and have never performed real projects in it before. Although there was a lot of information during the training course and everything seemed to be clear, but still we all had no experience in software tools. And before the 25th of December we have had to conduct 15 computations, the results of which determine whether the design of the whole oil field will be performed by our team.”
